San Antonio Addict Simulator
The San Antonio Addict Sim was created as part of User Interface, an art showcase located at SAY Sí. The goal of the show was to share and educate the public about drug abuse and the stigmas surrounding them. The following is the artist description present in the show.
San Antonio Addict Sim is a game created using the Ink narrative scripting language, simulating the life of a San Antonian who is dealing with substance misuse. We wished to show that, no matter the circumstances, anyone can be involved, but also, that anyone can break away from it. The player follows the life of one, of many different people, each having its own similar, but simultaneously unique storyline. Our game was made so that the player can understand and possibly even gather info on a topic they may not have understood before they play it. Once the game is completed the player will receive a printed receipt of their journey which they have the option to keep or to tape on the wall in front of the game setup. On the receipts one eye will be printed at the bottom, signifying that the more that this topic is talked about, the more that people will see, both good and bad. We hope that our game is one that will be played by many players both in our presentation and not, so that it may be an influential or informative piece of art for those who wish to learn.
